In September, 2023, Anastasiia Stroinova and I had the opportunity to grab 20 minutes with world-famous DJ Nastya at the Hilton when she was here for her Melbourne shows.

You might be thinking – but what can you do in 20 minutes in a hotel lobby? Surely It’s not enough time?!

Wrong! Instead of taking a negative view – you need to embrace the limitations because they force you to think outside the box and to be creative!

How we did it:

Scout:
We arrived early to scout the most visually stunning locations
We also shot drone shots of the city and some B-roll before we met with Nastia.

Camera settings.
We decided to shoot 120 fps in 4K on the FX3 for a dreamy effect. We used e the Sony 50mm 1.2 lens wide open in conjunction with focus tracking for an extremely shallow depth of field.

Action:
We directed Nastia on how to move and were lucky that she was a natural in front of the camera.

Edit.
We cut it with speed ramps, creative transitions and graphic overlays to a sick track from one of her sets.

Result:
The outcome was beyond our expectations – Nastya’s charisma shone through and we’re proud of what we achieved in such a short time.
